Day 1: Into the Green – Welcome to Kibale Forest

Your journey begins early from Kampala or Entebbe. As you leave the city behind, the landscape unfolds into rolling hills, crater lakes, and sleepy roadside towns. By early afternoon, you arrive in Kibale Forest, where the air is cool, the trees tall, and every shadow seems to whisper with life.

Later, stretch your legs on the Bigodi Wetlands Walk—a guided nature walk through papyrus-lined trails and elevated boardwalks. Colobus monkeys leap between fig trees. Birds call from every direction. And locals share stories about the plants and creatures that call this swamp home.

As night falls, your lodge settles into stillness, surrounded by the breathe of crickets and forest frogs.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking – Echoes in the Forest

Before sunrise, you sip a quick cup of tea and head into Kibale National Park. The forest feels ancient—dense with vines, filtered light, and the echo of distant calls.

Your ranger leads the way, after briefing you with Chimpanzee trekking do’s and donts, tips, clues: a knuckle print here, a half-eaten fig there. Then, you hear it—the whoop of a chimp echoing through the canopy.

Suddenly, they’re all around you. One crashes through branches overhead. Another pauses mid-chew to study you with eyes that feel uncannily familiar. A baby clings to its mother’s belly. A dominant male watches, unblinking.

For one magical hour, you’re in their world and have the whole time to sobserve them feed, play and relate. And it’s loud, social, messy, and completely unforgettable.

After your trek, enjoy lunch and begin the scenic return to Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the evening—with forest dust on your shoes and primate voices in your memory.
